The light is creeping and up here upon the canyon's weary brow
Ocean fog is floating ever closer now
Keen coyote and his family decide to call the dawn
Skipping deer trips down the gully to his fawn
Rattlesnake is winding down because it's time to go to bed
Busy puma wants to find some room to rest his head
Little birds that sound like spinning toys are fluttering goodbye
There's an orange glow somewhere behind the sky
The curved horizon seems to make a giant plate out of the sea
The smell of morning sage is taking over me
Down in the distance I can hear the motorcycles on the road
And in the swampy land the singing of the toad
And Venus fleeing into blue but somehow following the sun
To tell the other worlds that time has just begun
And I believe that my perception isn't going to fail me now
Upon the canyon's weary brow.
